Join the City of Albany’s Department of Recreation and a bunch of your fellow Rollers as we explore Albany by bike on Spring, Summer and Autumn evenings. Each of the events will trace different routes that pass through parts of Albany you may not have biked before. All levels of cyclists are encouraged to join.
The ride begins at 6:30 at Bikes on Solano at Solano and Peralta in Albany.
We ALWAYS need Ride Guides to help guide folks around town from the front, middle and back so if you’re a confident rider please come 10 minutes early and help your neighbors out!
Come a few minutes early to pump up your tires. Ride maps are distributed, and we take off in a big group. There are experienced cyclists to lead and bring up the rear. After wheeling about for a half hour or forty-five minutes we return to Peralta Park, just across the street from our start, for light refreshments, a raffle, and general carousing. Thanks so much to the Chelle, Eva, Liam and Brennen with City’s Department of Recreation & Community Services for organizing, printing maps and getting the FABULOUS RAFFLE PRIZES for riders!
Dates this year are Fridays May 18, June 15, July 20, August 17 and September 21st.

Ride on down to Everest Kitchen to enjoy a special Happy Hour menu and chat about biking and walking!
If you’ve volunteered at any event over the past few years, we’d like to thank you for your service to the active transportation community! Please join us at our Holiday Happy Hour Meeting & Volunteer Thank You Party!
There will be delicious appetizers, one drink per person, and swag, courtesy of AS&R. You’re welcome to order dinner, too, and Sanjiv of Everest Kitchen generously will give us 15% off their menu, including drinks.
Please RSVP to Amy at calamari@alumni.duke.edu so we have an approximate head count, can reserve a table, and can pre-order some appetizers. Also please let me know if you are vegetarian or vegan.
Of course, please bring your ideas, questions and input about cycling or walking around Albany!! As usual, this will immediately precede the Traffic & Safety Commission Meeting and will also be a good chance to talk about anything coming up on their agenda. Come and talk about walking and cycling in Albany, while eating delicious Nepali & Indian food! All are invited.
Yes, they have plenty of bike parking – feel free to stack your bikes, since many of us will be leaving simultaneously! This is our every other month (even-numbered months) informal get-together to talk about all things bike and ped in Albany. It’s a good chance to ask about what the city is up to and what our stance on issues is, and to meet others who are interested in issues related to human-scale transit/active transit.
Everyone is welcome.
Have something you want to talk or ask about? Put it in the “comments” section below! Hope to see you there! Again, please RSVP to Amy at calamari@alumni.duke.edu so we can have an approximate head count.

Join your friends and neighbors for a free “bike-in” showing of the family film “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure!”
The City of Albany’s Recreation Department is getting into the spirit of Bike Month with a Bike in Movie!
They will be showing “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” (PG), a family-friendly comedy about one man-child’s cross-country adventure in search of his beloved stolen bike. It’s a bizarre story of perseverance and hope in times of adversity, and is chock-full of zany characters.
Ride your bike on down to the Albany Community Center and join us for this fabulous Bike Month event! There will have plenty of space to park your bike in a protected area, complete with a massive bike rack.
The popcorn is free and will be flowing freely!

Come on down and learn how to ride a bike more safely – and have more fun!
Do you or anyone you know want to ride more but don’t feel confident enough?
Here’s a FREE bicycle skills class, courtesy of Bike East Bay, and it’s right here in Albany!
Join Bike East Bay for a half day of bike riding! This is the second part of Urban Cycling 101 (these are the two first day events.) We’ll cover on-road, on-your-bike practice sessions, working in small groups with our certified instructors to improve your handling skills, learn crash-avoidance maneuvers, and ability to bike confidently on any street. Laws and best practices particular to Albany and nearby neighborhoods will be covered.
Every attendee will receive a free set of bike lights!!!
A functional bike and helmet are required, drinks and snacks provided. (The idea is to have attended an Urban Cycling 101 Day 1:One of these two Classroom courses first. If you were not able but still want to attend this class, please email Robert Prinz and he can make other arrangements.)
The class is FREE but please register on the Bike East Bay Website.

The great news is that to encourage alternative
transportation they are providing bicycle racks, which they’ve rented from AS&R! Ride up Buchanan past the awful gridlock and zip right to the front row near the entrance. Lock up your bike, then enjoy the delicious food! And spend the $10 car parking fee on something to eat!
Stop by to participate in a variety of carnival games, and take in live musical performances by some of your favorite artists and DJs. Shop dozens of vendor booths for everything from jewelry to artistic paintings and home decor.
Immerse yourself in San Francisco Bay Area’s finest FoodieLand Night Market to eat, drink, shop and play. Featuring over 150 vendors, you’ll experience a variety of amazing foods and drinks, arts, crafts, games, and entertainment in one great location. FoodieLand Night Market is undoubtedly the city’s hottest summer playground. Make it a dream date, a summer night out with friends, or a class reunion to remember.
