Take a journey to the area once known as No Man’s Land and learn about the era when El Cerrito was known as a wide open city at a free walking tour, led by Chris Horn of the El Cerrito Historical Society.
From the teens into the 1940’s El Cerrito was a center for gambling, dog racing, drinking, and vice. The Rancho nightclub was opened in 1933, less than a month after the end of prohibition, in the historic Castro Adobe. An array of nightclubs sprang up on San Pablo Avenue. The walk will pass by the site of some of these clubs including the Rancho, Hollywood Club, the Wagon Wheel, the Kona Club and It Club.

After decades of waiting and advocating, the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge will FINALLY be accessible to rollers and strollers!
The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is scheduled to be at 10am.
Bike East Bay is leading this ride from Richmond BART to the RSR bridge.

We are pleased to announce our fiscal sponsor, Bike East Bay, will hold another Family Cycling Workshop in Albany on July 17, 2022!! The workshop will be held from 10:00am – 12:30pm at UC Village Community Center (Parking lot), 1125 Jackson St, Albany, CA 94706.
This event is brought to you via funding from the Alameda County Transportation Commission in partnership with the UC Village Recreation Program.
The family that rides together thrives together! Join Bike East Bay’s certified instructors for a day of fun games, safety drills, skills building, and a neighborhood ride.
This workshop is for kids who are able to ride a bike and ready to take to the paths and roadways with their parents (suggested grade range 2nd-6th). The event includes instruction on:
- fitting a helmet
- performing a bike safety check
- communicating with other road users
- riding in a straight line and avoiding obstacles
- as well as navigating safely through intersections, all while playing fun games!
All minors must be accompanied by an adult to participate, both with their own working bikes and helmets. University Village has a limited number of bikes available for those residents who need to borrow one. Email uvrec@berkeley.edu or Dani@BikeEastBay to inquire. Each child will receive free reflective gear or a blinky light!

Got a bike that’s squeaking and creaking? The BikeMobile will provide free tune ups & repairs for adults and children. The BikeMobile can fix flat tires, adjust brakes and gears, and even replace broken or worn out parts like chains, seats, and tires. The only thing they can’t do is replace missing wheels or gears. While the mechanics work on your bike they’ll explain how to keep it running smoothly!Bike or no bike, everyone is welcome to attend to learn about maintenance, safety, and more! This is first come, first serve and space is limited.They will be set up on the patio on Marin Ave – come on over!!
