These racks that AS&R provided for the City are perfectly situated for folks who want to enjoy the beach, a hike or just enjoy the beautiful view. Let’s make sure we still have recreational access to the Albany Bulb and the Neck!
Do you ride your bike, walk, hike, jog or otherwise enjoy the Albany Bulb & Neck areas? Do you want to continue to have access so you can enjoy the Albany Waterfront to its fullest? Both pieces are scheduled to be transferred to the East Bay Regional Park District and some groups and individuals want to curtail recreational use. Further details about the process and possibilities are here on our website.
This meeting will be the first opportunity to give PUBLIC INPUT saying that yes, recreational access is important to you and your family!
More details will be posted as we have more information but please save the date to make sure we have access to OUR WATERFRONT! Speak up, or we are in danger of losing recreational access.

Meet at San Pablo Park playground, take a tour of Berkeley/Oakland/Emeryville, and then join us for a post-ride BBQ/Potluck at San Pablo Park starting around 12:30 (or whenever we finish the ride). Sign up to participate in the BBQ/Potluck on the Geared 4 Kids Facebook Group page.

Grab your bikes and invite your friends & family – it’s time for the annual Bike About Town rides!
Join the City of Albany’s Department of Recreation and a bunch of your fellow Rollers as we explore Albany by bike on Spring, Summer and Autumn evenings. Each of the events will trace different routes that pass through parts of Albany you may not have biked before. All levels of cyclists are encouraged to join.
The Albany Peloton rolls down Peralta Avenue for another fun Bike About Town

The ride begins at 6:30 at Bikes on Solano at Solano and Peralta in Albany.
Come a few minutes early to pump up your tires. Ride maps are distributed, and we take off in a big group. There are experienced cyclists to lead and bring up the rear. After wheeling about for a half hour or forty-five minutes we return to Peralta Park, just across the street from our start, for light refreshments, a raffle, and general carousing.
Dates this year are Fridays May 15, June 19, July 17, August 21 and September 18.
Bring yourself, your friends and your family to Bikes on Solano for the Bike About Town rides!
Wednesday May 20th, show unity with your friends & neighbors in Richmond by participating in an international and Richmond tradition: the Ride of Silence.
The Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 12 mph, wear helmets, follow the rules of the road and remain silent during the ride. There are no sponsors and no registration fees. The ride, which is held during National Bike Month, aims to raise the awareness of motorists, police and city officials that cyclists have a legal right to the public roadways. This peaceful ride is also a chance to show respect for and honor the lives of those who have been killed or injured while cycling.
Join with your Richmond friends and neighbors at their annual Ride of Silence.
Meet at Richmond City Hall at 5:00pm, sign waiver, receive armbands. Dedication and honor injured riders, Vice Mayor Jael Myrick officiating. Hear ride instructions.
Depart at 5:30pm. Helmets are required.
