Albany Waterfront BikeLink Lockers

Use BikeLink Lockers While Visiting The Albany Waterfront!!

20240518_BikeLinkWFFrancescoTakingBikeDo you want to bike down to the Albany Bulb or Beach to hike, swim or just relax but don’t feel comfortable leaving your bike out in the open? Well, the four new BikeLink lockers at the Albany Waterfront are a perfect solution! Albany Strollers & Rollers advocated for the use of funds generated by the City’s sugar-sweetened beverage tax for the purchase and installation of the lockers, with support from our Parks, Recreation & Open Space Commission and City Council along the way.

The really exciting part is that these 4 lockers are among the FIRST LARGE ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE MANY LONGTAIL BICYCLES (SEE PHOTO) AND BIKES WITH CHILD SEATS, WHICH ARE SO POPULAR WITH FAMILIES! THEY MAY ALSO FIT AN ADULT BIKE + SMALL KID’S BIKE TOGETHER. The locker is a full rectangle, not a triangle like the standard lockers. As explained by BikeLink: “The Large size space fits standard bikes that are set up to be too wide or too long to go in the S (standard) locker, such as with child seats. The L space also fits standard “Cargo Bikes”, such as the Surly Big Dummy and very popular Yuba Electric Spicy Curry.” Usable internal length is 91″ (vs 75″ in the old standard lockers) and internal width is 35” (vs the triangular lockers, which taper considerably toward the back.)Dani2PXL_20240104_010136366

The lockers are conveniently located just to the north of the restroom; knowing there’s a secure place to lock up the velo while taking a swim or hike will make for a more relaxed time by the Bay or at the Bulb!

These lockers rent out on-demand at only 5¢/hour, which is pretty amazing for secure parking for your bike and its gear! For the time being, these new, larger lockers are only accessible via the BikeLink App. Just download the App on your smartphone and load with the minimum $5. When you get to the Waterfront, turn on Bluetooth and Location, open up the app, and voilà – using the app is really intuitive, even the first time. We hope you will use these lockers and enjoy Albany’s beautiful Waterfront! Happy riding and parking!
