Solano Safeway Redevelopment

November 1, 2009

I attended Safeway’s roll-out of their new plans for the Solano Avenue store on Nov. 1, 2009. I’m pleased to report that bike racks are shown immediately in front of the two main entrances to the store – on Solano, and in the parking garage. That was a welcome sight. I turned in written comments congratulating them on this design feature and asking them to go the next step – cover the racks out in front of the store and install some e-lockers as well as racks.

Come to think of it – we need to make sure the racks can accommodate trailers and bikes with attached “half-bikes”.

Of course, it wouldn’t hurt them to put some bike racks at their current store. It’s woefully underserved right now.

I encourage you to send them your comments regarding bicycle facilities. http://safewayonsolano.com
