Come on and help APAL and Cycles of Change teach kids the rules of the road. We’ll give out helmets and Ken McCroskey will make sure they fit perfectly.
We’ll also have “Check for Bikes” clings to hand out to parents and neighbors.
See you there!
Join the City of Albany Community Services and Albany Strollers & Rollers with sponsor Solano Avenue Cyclery as we explore Albany by bike on balmy Albany evenings. Each of the three events this Summer will trace different routes that pass through parts of Albany you may not have biked before. All levels of cyclists are encouraged to join us.
We begin at 6:30 at Solano Avenue Cyclery, at Solano and Peralta. Come a few minutes early to pump up your tires. Ride maps are distributed, and we take off in a big group. There are experienced cyclists to lead and bring up the rear. After wheeling about for a half hour or forty-five minutes we return to Peralta Park, just across the street from our start, for light refreshments, a raffle, and general carousing.
Dates this year are Fridays June 29, July 27, August 24, September 28 and October 26 (special Halloween ride!)
See you there!

This is a special meeting of the City Council to make the major approvals for the project, including the EIR. AS&R is awaits posting of the EIR for this meeting, as the last EIR presented by the city had language that seemed to indicate that environmental mitigations, such as bicycle connections to the community-wide bicycle network, might not be undertaken if deemed “infeasible”.

For the fourth straight year AS&R will be providing free Bicycle Valet Parking (at the Pumpkin Patch) to anyone who pedals or rolls to the Stroll. This year we are happy to announce Bua Luang Thai Cuisine and Tay Tah Cafe, both local businesses run by an Albany family, as our co-sponsors making this service possible!
As usual, Tay Tah and Bua Luang will be providing lunches to volunteers so RSVP to Sylvia Paull here by Monday, September 3rd to reserve your lunch and Thai Iced Tea – thanks!
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE THIS A SUCCESS – THANKS!
On Saturday, September 22nd, Albany and El Cerrito will once again close Key Route Boulevard across the cities’ border and beyond to let everyone take to the street to play and meet. Among various activities there will be an Albany versus El Cerrito tug-of-war and AS&R will be giving away smoothies blended up by attendees using pedal power. You can learn more here.
Please let Ken McCroskey Wait know when you can help with AS&R’s smoothie bike that day. You can email him here.
