Oaklavía Love our Lake Day @ Lake Merritt

Walk Oakland Bike Oakland (WOBO) is proud to join forces with Mayor Quan’s office and the Measure DD Community Coalition to bring Oaklavía back to Oakland.
Oaklavía will close three miles of streets circumnavigating Lake Merritt to car traffic, allowing participants to experience what a people- and community-centered urban space can feel like when our built environment is committed to safe and accessible places to walk and to bike. Love Our Lake Day is accessible by BART (Lake Merritt, 12th Street/City Center, 19th Street stations) and several AC Transit bus lines. More info on getting to the event here
It is a free public event that invites families and visitors around the Bay Area to come out and play, stroll, bike, and paddle at Lake Merritt.
Bike Parking will be provided by East Bay Bicycle Coalition (self-serve, bring a lock) and Oakland Spokes (valet parking.)
Free Bike Rentals (limited) will be provided by Bay Area Bikes. Bring photo ID and credit card. Harrison and 20th St.

AS&R will again be providing Bicycle Valet Parking at the Solano Stroll, so there’s no reason not to avoid the car traffic and parking hassles.
Location: Pumpkin Patch, north side of Solano, just west of Masonic

Thanks again to our generous sponsor, local business Bua Luang Thai Cuisine! Bua Luang has been supporting AS&R since 2008, and sponsoring our Bicycle Valet Parking services at city events since 2010.

For the 3nd year, the Cities of Albany and El Cerrito are joining together to host a car-free “Street Play” event! “Alberrito Streets” will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 on portions of Key Route Blvd in Albany and Ashbury Ave in El Cerrito.

*Ride like a Gaucho at a ‘pop-up’ Bike Park, sponsored by the El Cerrito High School Mountain Bike Team. BikePark1
Test your bike skills on a fun skills course that includes Log Skinnies (balance beams), pump the bumps, a teeter totter and more.

Other activities may include

Free bicycle helmets will be given to youth participants.

Rodeo activities will include bike inspections, safety information, and a bicycle safety course. The goal of the bicycle rodeo is to encourage riders to wear helmets on every ride, to give young cyclists basic skills for on-road riding, and to teach them the rules of the road to help keep them safe. This event focuses on young riders in elementary and middle school.
AS&R will again be working with kids, showing them how to ride their bikes safely and responsibly.
We’ll also have our  ”Check for Bikes” clings on hand for parents…and the famous Bicycle Blender so everyone can pedal-power a delicious smoothie!
PLEASE VOLUNTEER: We could definitely use some help running the bike blender station and talking to parents and kids. Any takers, please? If so, please contact Amy Smolens or Ken McCroskey.

This fun-filled celebration is for everyone from the recreational rider and casual observer to the seasoned cyclist, showcasing what makes cycling such an amazing activity for individuals, groups and families.
Pedalfest 301In collaboration with Bike East Bay, enjoy pedal-powered food, a pedal powered sound stage featuring live music, dare devil stunts, a kid’s bike rodeo, safety training, and the most amazing collection of bicycles to be seen from vintage and hand built bikes to Pedalfest at Jack London Squarehigh-end customs, sturdy commuters and creative art bikes.
All Pedalfest proceeds benefit the Bike East Bay – the organization with which Albany Strollers & Rollers is affiliated that works tirelessly for safe, convenient and enjoyable bicycling for all!
Of course, free Bicycle Valet Parking will be provided by Bike East Bay!

Solano Stroll – AS&R is providing Free Bicycle Valet Parking!

Come visit AS&R at our information table then enjoy a great stroll up Solano!

Albany Strollers & Rollers will be providing Free Bicycle Valet Parking at two locations this year: 1800 Solano Ave (Wells Fargo) and 1245 Solano (the “Pumpkin Patch” near Masonic.)
We’ll also have an information table by our western lot near Masonic.
WE NEED YOU TO MAKE THIS A SUCCESS!

All volunteers who work at least a 4-hr shift will get free lunch provided by supporting sponsors Bua Luang Thai Cuisine and Tay Tah Cafe.
Since 1974 Solano Avenue and the cities of Albany and Berkeley have hosted the Solano Avenue Stroll, the East Bay’s largest street festival! The Solano Avenue Association and AS&R invite you to see what makes Solano Avenue a wonderful place. The Stroll features over five hundred vendors including 50 entertainers (there’s always great music!,) 50 food booths, 150 government and non-profit agencies, 150 juried hand-crafters, a 75 entry parade, state of the art mechanical rides and much more!

is a project of the Safe Routes to Schools Alameda County Berkeley Task Force in partnership with Berkeley Unified School District. This day of bicycle celebration and education will prepare families for Bike to School and Work Days and bring the community together on bikes in honor of the Earth.

Using the Bike Blender to pedal your way to a smoothie is always fun!

The day will begin with a Family Cycling Workshop at 10:00am, with the festival starting at 12:00pm. Festival activities will include, bike and helmet decoration station, our annual Youth Bike Swap beginning at 11, a Bike Rodeo to practice rules of the road, helmet fittings, bike blended smoothies, bicycle inspired entertainment, a cargo bike demo station, bicycle face painting and photos booth, the bicycle Trivia Wheel, a Bike Polo demo and a whole lot more to inspire, educate and encourage bicycle riding.
