The Albany Peloton rolls down Peralta Avenue for another fun Bike About Town

Join the City of Albany’s Department of Recreation and a bunch of your fellow Rollers as we explore Albany by bike on Spring, Summer and Autumn evenings. Each of the events will trace different routes that pass through parts of Albany you may not have biked before. All levels of cyclists are encouraged to join.
The ride begins at 6:30 at Bikes on Solano at Solano and Peralta in Albany.
We ALWAYS need Ride Guides to help guide folks around town from the front, middle and back so if you’re a confident rider please come 10 minutes early and help your neighbors out!
Come a few minutes early to pump up your tires. Ride maps are distributed, and we take off in a big group. There are experienced cyclists to lead and bring up the rear. After wheeling about for a half hour or forty-five minutes we return to Peralta Park, just across the street from our start, for light refreshments, a raffle, and general carousing. Thanks so much to the Chelle, Eva, Liam and Brennen with City’s Department of Recreation & Community Services for organizing, printing maps and getting the FABULOUS RAFFLE PRIZES for riders!

transportation they are providing bicycle racks, which they’ve rented from AS&R! Ride up Buchanan past the awful gridlock and zip right to the front row near the entrance. Lock up your bike, then enjoy the delicious food! And spend the $10 car parking fee on something to eat!
ON SUNDAY BE SURE TO STOP BY AS&R’S BOOTH TO SAY HI AND TELL US WHAT YOU RECOMMEND!!
Stop by to participate in a variety of carnival games, and take in live musical performances by some of your favorite artists and DJs. Shop dozens of vendor booths for everything from jewelry to artistic paintings and home decor.
Immerse yourself in San Francisco Bay Area’s finest FoodieLand Night Market to eat, drink, shop and play. Featuring over 150 vendors, you’ll experience a variety of amazing foods and drinks, arts, crafts, games, and entertainment in one great location. FoodieLand Night Market is undoubtedly the city’s hottest summer playground. Make it a dream date, a summer night out with friends, or a class reunion to remember. Tell your friends!

Learn basic rules of the road, how to share the road with cars on busy streets, how to equip your bicycle, lock your bike, fit your helmet, and avoid crashes by riding predictably, visibly, and communicating with other road users by your actions and signals. Every workshop has the same content so you only need to attend once. For adults and teens, no bike needed.
Please note: All of Bike East Bay’s UC Berkeley classes are open to the public, but are also part of the BEST (Bicycle Education & Safety Training) program allowing ticketed cyclists to have their fines reduced.

This is our every other month (even-numbered months) informal get-together to talk about all things bike and ped in Albany. It’s a good chance to ask about what the city is up to and what our stance on issues is, and to meet others who are interested in issues related to human-scale transit/active transit.
Everyone is welcome.
Note that this will usually take place right before a Traffic and Safety Commission meeting, and will also be a good chance to talk about anything coming up on their agenda.
