Name Our Newsletter!

You may have noticed that we have a spiffy new Announcement format, thanks to our brand new Media Manager, AS&R volunteer Laura Emery.
It looks so great that it needs a new name! Can you help?

Our members have suggested some of the following:
GREENways (It references the actual greenway that runs through Albany as well as all modes of transportation that are “green” for the environment vs. driving a car)
Human Power
Streets for People
Streets for Living
People in Motion
Walk and Ride
The Navigator

Do you like any of those or have other suggestions? Write a note in “comments” here and we’ll choose one soon – thanks!

    Of course there’s
Bike ‘n Hike and all its variations!

Stride ‘n Roll Albany. Includes both walking and hiking, and all wheeled self-propulsion, from senior’s walkers to wheelchairs to bikes to baby strollers. Especially since the topic of the day is sidewalk repair–no bikes there. (And, tips hat to Rock ‘n Roll :)

    Or, Stroll ‘n Roll Albany.

    And the winner is…
“GREENways” by AS&R member Katie Morrison, who got the inspiration while pedaling along the Greenway between Marin and Gilman. We love the name because, as Katie quite aptly noted, “…it references the actual Greenway that runs through Albany as well as all modes of transportation that are ‘green’ for the environment vs. driving a car.”
We are honored to have Katie as a member as well as an English teacher at Albany High School (no surprise, given her literary genius). As a token of our appreciation, she will receive a $20 BikeLink card as a prize. AS&R is a vendor of these eCards that can be used for bike lockers at BART stations and beyond. BL has given us a few cards to use as prizes or perks so Katie is a worthy recipient!

Thanks, Katie and all others who submitted entries!
