Bike-in Movie Night (Chariots of Fire) & Special Bike About Town @ Albany Parklet
May 25 @ 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Join the City’s Recreation Department at the parklet in front of As You Wish Frozen Yogurt for an all-ages and all-abilities Bike About Town –  we will cruise around town as a group from 7-7:30 while emphasizing bicycle safety.
Then we’ll meet back at the corner of Cornell & Solano Avenue for a “Bike-in Movie”. We will be showing ‘Chariots of Fire,’ a film sure to spark you to get out and run!
Ride your bike on down – there will plenty of space to park your bike in a protected area. The popcorn is free and will be flowing freely! This film is PG. Bring a blanket and a lawn chair.
Special thanks to As You Wish Frozen Yogurt for sponsoring this bike-tacular event. In case of inclement weather, check the Albany Rec Department’s Facebook page for event status updates.

Oct 17 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

For the first time ever, the Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival will visit the East Bay! The festival is a celebration of travel and human-powered adventure on wheels, and it is the only event of its type in the world. Proceeds from the event benefit the Adventure Cycling Association and Street Level Cycles.

From the frozen streams of the Himalayas to the sultry heat of Thailand, from a father and daughter sharing their first overnight outing to two Boomers finding love on an organized bike tour, there’s over a dozen films with something for everyone at this year’s festival. You don’t need to be a cyclist to enjoy these tales of adventure! Ciclismo Classico, the longtime pioneer in creative bicycle vacations, is proud to present this one-of-a-kind event.
Agenda for the Evening:

  • 6:00pm: Doors Open
  • 6:30pm: Introduction & Film Rolls
  • 8:30pm: Film Ends

Raffle Information: Ciclismo is generously raffling a $2500 voucher which can be applied to a specific Italian bike trip that Ciclismo will designate. Each admission ticket includes one raffle ticket. However, additional raffle tickets can be bought at check-in. One winner will be chosen at the film screening intermission and must be present to win.

Grab a drink, sit back, relax & enjoy the films! Sports Basement to provide light drinks and snacks.

FESTIVAL MISSION STATEMENT
The Festival’s mission is to inspire attendees to explore by bicycle. Whether across the globe or a few towns away, nothing recharges and expands horizons like bicycle travel. The Ciclismo Classico Bike Travel Film Festival is the ONLY film festival in the USA that focuses specifically on bicycle travel. The Festival commits itself to sharing a diverse array of journeys: adventure is for everyone

“Bay Trail Confidential” free Zoom program
Feb 3 @ 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Kensington resident, avid cyclist and AS&R member/volunteer Rodney Paul wants to let everyone on the list know about a FREE Zoom program he hosts called Bay Trail ConfidentialEach month, he highlights different public spaces on the Bay Trail and talks about ways to make the most of them.
Words from Rodney:
“The program explores the inviting and spectacular public places along the Bay Trail route. On each show, we spotlight a particular place and have guests providing inside knowledge on what to expect and how to make the most of your visits. We also discuss the wide array of activities the Bay Trail supports such as hiking, biking, kayaking, photography, birding, swimming and many others. We talk about the wildlife you can see and history you’ll learn about along the Trail. Each month’s show will provide specific recommendations and valuable information to help you make the most of this amazing public resource.”
Here’s a brief preview of this Bay Trail Confidential program:
“We’ll be joined by Sally Dinwoodie and Barbara Christianson, who have led a group of women who circumnavigated the Bay on foot over a period of four years.  Journalist Aleta George has written about their adventures and will also appear on the show.  In addition, I’ll begin talking about the Bay Trail Taco project and give information on how to get more involved.”

The program is hosted by SF City Guides. We’re grateful to everyone who can make a donation and help us keep our non-profit strong as we weather the pandemic.

On my program, I encourage people to ask questions and share thoughts using Chat.  At the end of the one-hour program, we invite attendees to unmute and share thoughts.

I’ve also created a Bay Trail Confidential web page that provides a good description of the program and has links to register for all our upcoming shows and other good information.  It’s at https://rodneysftours.com/btc

I hope many of you will be able to join us.  We’ve already explored a lot of other terrific Bay Trail places including Coyote Hills in Fremont, the new Crane Cove Park in SF and the many Bay Trail segments in Richmond.  We reach people all over the Bay Area, and my hope is that each show will encourage many to check out new segments.
