Join us for our Happy Hour at our usual location – Everest Kitchen – they generously offer us 15% off their menu, including drinks, and yes, they have plenty of bike parking! This is our every other month (even-numbered months) informal get-together to talk about all things bike and ped in Albany. It’s a good chance to ask about what the city is up to and what our stance on issues is, and to meet others who are interested in issues related to human-scale transit/active transit.
Everyone is welcome.
Note that this will usually take place right before a Transportation Commission meeting, and will also be a good chance to talk about anything coming up on their agenda.

Volunteers & Bikes Needed! AS&R Participates in New “Albany Community Expo”
The City’s Recreation Department is organizing its first expo to showcase community based organizations like ours and City departments at the Albany Community Center. AS&R will have a table outside to display materials, information and a variety of bicycles (yours?) and chat about strolling and rolling. Other groups will be doing the same and there will be giveaways, food trucks, a raffle, activities and live entertainment!
We need a few volunteers to spend time at our table and speak to community members who may have questions about strolling or rolling in Albany and beyond. We’d also like to have a few bikes to display – a cargo bike, trailer, anything you think might pique a neighbor’s interest.
Volunteers will get swag (details TBA.). If you can help staff the table, please email Amy Smolens at amy@albanystrollroll.org.
Have a gripe, an idea or some input about anything that would further cycling and pedestrian conditions here in Albany? Then join us at our next meeting (every other month – odd-numbered months) where we discuss policy and projects, and talk about what’s going on in Active Transportation in Albany.

Join AS&R and Xtracycle for “Bike to Wherever Day” in the Bay Area, a party on wheels!!
As usual, there will be coffee, food, swag, bike goodies in Bike East Bay’s famous Bike to Work Day musette bags, fun and lots of good conversation & information so come on down on your way to work, school, shopping or around town!

We’re getting generous donations from Kim’s Cafe (thanks, Cathy!), Royal Ground Coffee (thanks, Mike!), GU Energy (thanks, Roshelle!), Trader Joe’s El Cerrito, Sprouts at University Village and Safeway all the passing cyclists will have plenty to eat and drink!!
In addition to the great Bike East Bay musette swag bags, we’ll have our own safety items like clings and reflective bands, BikeLink cards, and lots of great conversation about cycling and walking!

The City of El Cerrito WorldOne 4th of July Festival on Monday, July 4th from 11am to 5pm features world-class live music provided by WorldOne entertainment.
Vendor and information booths include every department in the City: Public
Works, Community Development, Recreation, Police, Fire. Information will be available from City-sponsored clubs and organizations including the Arts & Culture Commission, Environmental Quality Committee, Urban Forest Committee and so many more.
Food and drink are available for purchase. Live music and other entertainment is free and encouraged for all to enjoy.
Games, rides and face painting are available (for purchase).
New this year – a free “Family Fun Zone” will be set up for those with younger children.
Free bicycle valet parking is available, and biking to the event is encouraged.
