Then join us at our next meeting (every other month – odd-numbered months) where we discuss policy and projects, and talk about what’s going on in Active Transportation in Albany.

Bike to Wherever Day – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! NEW LOCATION! @ Energizer Station

Come join our annual rolling party, Bike to Work Day!

Join AS&R and Xtracycle for “Bike to Wherever Day” in the Bay Area, a party on wheels!!
As usual, there will be coffee, food, swag, bike goodies in Bike East Bay’s famous Bike to Work Day musette bags, fun and lots of good conversation & information so come on down on your way to work, school, shopping or around town!
Here’s a short VIDEO that AS&R member Francesco Papalia took so you can see how fun the morning is! We’ll be at a NEW LOCATION, THE GREENWAY NORTH OF SOLANO!

We’re getting generous donations from Kim’s Cafe (thanks, Cathy!), Royal Ground Coffee (thanks, Mike!), GU Energy (thanks, Roshelle!), Trader Joe’s El Cerrito, Sprouts at University Village and Safeway all the passing cyclists will have plenty to eat and drink!!
In addition to the great Bike East Bay musette swag bags, we’ll have our own safety items like clings and reflective bands, BikeLink cards, and lots of great conversation about cycling and walking!

SO YES, WE NEED YOUR HELP PREPARING & DISTRIBUTING ALL THESE GOODIES TO HUNDREDS OF CYCLISTS! SIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER HERE!!

Rob Allen, owner of Blue Heron Bikes will be volunteering his time, checking your bicycles for safety and road-worthiness as he has in previous years!
WE WILL NEED HELP AT OUR ENERGIZER STATION BEGINNING AT 6:15 (prep) a.m. through wrap-up at 9:30.

This is our every other month (even-numbered months) informal get-together to talk about all things bike and ped in Albany. It’s a good chance to ask about what the city is up to and what our stance on issues is, and to meet others who are interested in issues related to human-scale transit/active transit.
Everyone is welcome.

Note that this will usually take place right before a Transportation Commission meeting, and will also be a good chance to talk about anything coming up on their agenda.

El Cerrito “WorldOne” 4th of July Festival @ Cerrito Vista Park

The City of El Cerrito WorldOne 4th of July Festival on Monday, July 4th from 11am to 5pm features world-class live music provided by WorldOne entertainment.
Vendor and information booths include every department in the City: Public Works, Community Development, Recreation, Police, Fire. Information will be available from City-sponsored clubs and organizations including the Arts & Culture Commission, Environmental Quality Committee, Urban Forest Committee and so many more.
Food and drink are available for purchase. Live music and other entertainment is free and encouraged for all to enjoy.
Games, rides and face painting are available (for purchase).
New this year – a free “Family Fun Zone” will be set up for those with younger children.

 

Free bicycle valet parking is available, and biking to the event is encouraged.

FREE Bike East Bay Family Cycling Workshop in ALBANY!! @ UC Village Community Center (Parking Lot)

We are pleased to announce our fiscal sponsor, Bike East Bay, will hold another Family Cycling Workshop in Albany on July 17, 2022!! The workshop will be held from 10:00am – 12:30pm at UC Village Community Center (Parking lot), 1125 Jackson St, Albany, CA 94706.

This event is brought to you via funding from the Alameda County Transportation Commission in partnership with the UC Village Recreation Program.

The family that rides together thrives together! Join Bike East Bay’s certified instructors for a day of fun games, safety drills, skills building, and a neighborhood ride.

This workshop is for kids who are able to ride a bike and ready to take to the paths and roadways with their parents (suggested grade range 2nd-6th). The event includes instruction on:

  • fitting a helmet
  • performing a bike safety check
  • communicating with other road users
  • riding in a straight line and avoiding obstacles
  • as well as navigating safely through intersections, all while playing fun games!

All minors must be accompanied by an adult to participate, both with their own working bikes and helmets. University Village has a limited number of bikes available for those residents who need to borrow one. Email uvrec@berkeley.edu or Dani@BikeEastBay to inquire. Each child will receive free reflective gear or a blinky light!
